Smart and catchy pop/rock with decidedly Power Pop leanings is the order of the day on the very fine new self-titled CD from Love Revue. Boasting a post-Beatles-inspired sense of melody and pop precision, Love Revue's irresistible hooks have an altogether classic feel despite the contemporary production values that make this 11-song collection a natural for multiple radio formats. CD opener, "Cooking for One," a low-key gem built on a piano and acoustic guitar backing, sets the bar pretty high for the rest of the disc as it recalls the charms of Badfinger at that classic band's best. "Looking for the One" and "Soothe My Soul" more than ably demonstrate Love Revue's rocking side, while "Strip Me" and "Release" is love ballads of the first order. With the triumphant song "Get Along," Love Revue really proves its mettle with a spirited ELO-influenced creation tailor-made for summer radio and summer fun. Equal parts jazz and instrumental psychedelic / progressive rock, Reform's debut CD, "Reformed," charts a middle ground that ably fuses classic styles and influences - with an unusual twist. With a stellar 6-piece ensemble behind him, harmonica player Àlvaro Fernandez Gavíria's full, lower-octave playing serves as a primary lead instrument for much of the album. With studied restraint, Gaviria's tone – which recalls that of accomplished blues harp-stylist, Corky Siegel, approaches his instrument like a fusion-oriented Miles Davis, drawing out found harmonics within the framework of the band's rich and melodic songscapes. Guitarists Johan Glasson and Peter Åkerberg create the underpinning for Reform's – at times, Steely Dan-like jazz-rock sound, while drummers Anders Bergman and Åke Eriksson provide the forward thrust, effectively filling passages with deft and meticulous hits and textures. Not to go unmentioned, bassist Jesper Bergman and keyboard player, Magnus Ramel's contributions are no less vital - and noteworthy, to Reform's decidedly adventurous leanings. Regardless of whether it's fusion jazz or spacey art rock, Reform's CD is a terrific set of original music by unique players with unbounded skills.

Soznak, a group comprised of multi-ethnic musicians, has released a charming collection of music filled with originality on their latest album "Dear Dad Tango." This group offers a wide assortment of musical instruments ranging from accordion to African drums. The chemistry between the musicians is felt throughout this disc with their high-spirited energy. Feel the horn section on "Tata Y Mama" as the rhythm is bouncy with harmonious lyrics. "Cooking in the Kitchen" is a formula for good music and food while the vocals and wind section take this number up a notch. The title track "Dear Dad Tango" features lyrics that are strong and emotional, while simultaneously describing sentimental values of the loss of a loved one. Triflemore blends the guitar and voice into one beautiful sound on their latest disc, "Words From Notes." The talented duo is comprised of singer Susan Rhea, who hails from small-town America, and guitarist Owen Goudie from the Shetland Islands. Together, their collaborative talents combine to produce a touching CD, filled with throwback sounds of folk singers from the late 1960's. Rhea's voice is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell in all the best ways imaginable. Her voice is wonderful to hear and her eloquent tones can be heard on songs like "Goudfield" and "Perfect." Not to go unnoticed, Goudie's finger style guitar work is also exceptional in its own right. You can tell he has crafted his melodies around Rhea's vocals and intertwines them so one does not overshadow the other. A highlight of his playing can be heard on "Signal." "Words From Notes" is a perfect fit for any Joni Mitchell or Emmylou Harris fan and could very well be used to paint the soundtrack of all of our lives.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Finlay Morton with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Back to Basics 2009 Remix"

Finlay Morton takes a crop of classic rock influences and fuses them together with some country, resulting in a fine album called "Back to Basics 2009 Remix." Morton's songwriting is very similar to that of Tom Petty, with Americana flowing throughout the album and the sound of an organ whirling about. This influence is most evident on songs like "Hang On To Your Dreams" and "My Friend". The best attribute about Morton is his silky rock voice, emulating the more recent vocal tones of Pink Floyd's Roger Waters. Give "Scary Monsters" a good listen and you will hear those vocal tones similar to Waters'. There is also some nice country lap steel work on the song "Back To The Start". If you own Petty's "Wild Flowers" album or anything put out recently by Neil Young, you will love Finlay Morton's "Back to Basics 2009 Remix."

Quite inspiring is the multi-talented artist, Oystein Westlie, as his recently released album, "Jazz Café" is filled with stunning Jazz instrumentals. "Long Way To Morning" is a true-to-its-roots rock album from Finnish outfit The boots. This album is filled with great rock arrangements from a set of tight and experienced musicians who nicely incorporate progressive and blues elements into their sound. The electric guitar drives the entire album, with great riffs and solos alike, splicing themselves throughout and solidifying the sound. Their influences draw from the '60s, '70s, and '80s from the likes of The Beatles, The Doors, Electric Light Orchestra, and a variety of rhythm 'n blues pioneers. Suffice to say, that is where their sound sticks. The songs are catchy and melodic, complimenting the rock arrangements nicely. The production quality of "Long Way To Morning" is quite good and the entire record sounds polished, though some of that must be accredited to the band. You can really tell that talent played a big role in the quality of the product. "Corduroy Man" has a great rock & roll arrangement, bluesy guitar solos, and a catchy chorus. "Never Meant to Shine" is a ballad with incredible vocal layering, an acoustic lead, and electric riffs. "Long Way To Morning" is another hit album from a longstanding mainstay of the Scandinavian rock scene. Fans of classic rock and great blues guitar, check out The boots.

Reminiscent of '80's head-banger music, Infinite Tone centers their sound around big guitars and melodic vocals. The lyrics are well-written and are sung with confident and crisp vocals. The keyboards also play an immense part in this group's sound. Take note of the Hammond B-3 organ sound on the solo of "Burn!" or the chord stabs on the title track "Impossi-bull." Listeners will be able to notice the diversity in the tempos in "Picture of You" and "In My Eyes," which are slow rock ballads driven by power chords on guitar. "Men and Flies" Martin Hagfors latest effort, is Indie songwriting at its finest. Hagfors does a fantastic job with this record both in his eloquent lyrics and in the choice instrumentation on every song. The first track off the album, "Appetite" features a beautiful staccato string arrangement and a vocal approach similar to the Indie master himself, Elliot Smith. Another great selection on "Men and Flies" is the song "Tattooed on My Eyes." This song has that element of fusing both old and new rock sounds with an end result of something between The Band and Ryan Adams. Hagfors really does an outstanding job on this CD and is a real hidden gem amongst his musical peers.

"Paul Mac Innes & T.B.O.I." is an impressive self-titled release from the Swedish duo comprised of vocalist Paul Mac Innes and saxophonist/drummer Björn Almgren, also know as T.B.O.I. (The Brother Of Invention.) Their sound is a highly polished blend of rock, jazz, pop, soul, and R&B that is radio-ready. Just one listen to this album and you realize that the primary focus here is on creating well-written songs with lovely melodies and performed with a high degree of musicianship. The production is clean and professional throughout, with a pleasing lack of overproduction and tricky effects. "Welcome to The Bunker" is a strong opener, with a silky soul groove and vocal harmonies reminiscent of Steely Dan. The vocals are incredibly strong throughout, beautifully layered to produce the desired effect on each track. Listen to the superb harmonies on "Need" and "Time?!" for great examples of this. "Even Though" has a definitive gospel flavor, showcasing the group's versatility. The rhythm section is extremely strong on this entire album, with funky bass lines and in-the-pocket drum grooves throughout. "What You Do" features the melodic saxophone of Almgren along with his tasteful, inventive drumming. "Paul Mac Innes & T.B.O.I." is a creative collaboration between two very fine musicians, and the product they have produced is a very original and enjoyable form of soul music. Fans of Steely Dan and Sly & The Family Stone will want to check "Paul Mac Innes & T.B.O.I." out.

"Micro Talk" by Miguel Rodrigues is an innovative electronica and house album that is full of funky riffs and soulfully energetic beats. Rodrigues without a doubt has a style all his own, composed of electronica, house, dance, funk, and jazz, and this album puts that style on full display. The listener will certainly experience a sort of serenity while listening to "Micro Talk," as he takes listeners on a journey filled with layer upon layer of beautiful sounds mixed with warm, but active, grooves and beats. The sequences are all very tight and the production is of very high quality. "Blue Ball" kicks things off, and to say it is funky would be a tremendous understatement. It's an excellent introduction track that gives the full taste of the style of tracks to come. "Mr. G" pulls things back a bit and gives you more of a deep house vibe while still maintaining Rodrigues' style. The title track "Micro Talk" wraps things up and features some clever horn work and a bit of sex appeal. Those that enjoy discovering unique electronica artists with a multitude of influences will love "Micro Talk" and should waste no time in picking this one up.

"Live At the House of Sin" is an incredible collaboration between English singer/songwriter Phil Shoenfelt and Czech violinist and guitarist Pavel Cingl. Recorded live at the Nova Sin club in Prague, this album features digs into the Shoenfelt songbook and features Shoenfelt on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, reminiscent of Iggy Pop and Nick Cave, and Cingl contributing incredible violin and electric guitar work to accompany the acoustic rhythms and give the tracks a full sound. The resulting songs have a great mix of gothic and folk, as Shoenfelt delivers intelligent and memorable lyrics of sorrow, love, life, and death. This is the type of performance best heard live, and "Live At the House of Sin" is recorded cleanly and the product sounds great. "Saviour's Day" begins with clean acoustic and violin work, then moves into a sorrowful violin progression that perfectly matches the sadness of Shoenfelt's lyrics of lost love. "Shivers Inside" features electric and acoustic guitar work, and is an incredible, slow and lyrical love song from Shoenfelt. "Hospital" is another great violin and acoustic collaboration that creates a beautiful harmonic sound and features more great lyrics from Shoenfelt. "Live At the House of Sin" is a great album, beautifully arranged, and thought-provoking from a couple of talented musicians with a lot of street cred. Fans of goth, folk, and the likes of Iggy Pop and Nick Cave should definitely pick this one up.

"Searching For You" is the impressive debut from UK multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Spinous. This album is filled with ten catchy and groovy pop songs that draw from rock, funk, and r&b. With the exception of some of the drum and bass work, Spinous composed and performed all of the arrangements on this release, showing his skill both in layering and arranging. Spinous gives a strong vocal performance that sounds somewhere between Sting, Seal, and Prince. The songs are catchy and melodic, with great toe-tapping beats and meaningful, memorable lyrics. Spinous also self-produced "Searching For You," and it sounds great, his full vision fulfilled. "All I Need Is Time" begins with a nice drumbeat and keyboard work, then builds to incorporate a groovy guitar line and moves into great lyrical verse. "All The Things" is an incredibly poppy song with an energetic drumbeat, refined keyboard progressions and solos, more great lyrics, and a catchy chorus. Overall, "Searching For You" is a great debut from Spinous, with great groovy tracks that'll simultaneously make you want to move and sing along. Fans of groovy pop with rock, r&b, and funk influences should check Spinous out.

"Seven Stars" is an energetic four-song rock EP from Norwegian singer/songwriter B. Keyler. B. Keyler brings great vocal styling to the table with an impressive range, a strong voice, and an original delivery reminiscent of KT Tunstall and the cutesy European vocals of Regina Spektor. "Seven Stars" has four great rock arrangements with melodic and rhythmic tones, nice guitar work, and solos to boot. This EP was self-produced, giving B. Keyler the freedom to perfect her sound, and she succeeds. "It's Who I Am" features a nice arrangement with great acoustic and electric layering and an excellent vocal performance in which B. Keyler is really displays a great amount of passion in her delivery. "I Wish" is a more lyrical track, but it also has a nice arrangement, slick reggae guitar work and a great Spektor-esque vocal delivery. Overall, "Seven Stars" is an impressive showing from a great female vocalist that leaves the listener eager to hear what she'll do next. Fans of rhythmic modern rock and original female vocal styling should look into B. Keyler.

"One Way Road" is the impressive solo alternative rock debut from UK artist JD that features rocking arrangements and poppy vocals. JD is musician David O'Flynn, and he's got a vocal range that sells and is reminiscent of Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, The Academy Is…, and the now-defunct Stars Hide Fire. Musically, JD veers away from this comparison with darker alternative rock arrangements rather than pop punk, in turn creating something original. The songs are upbeat and melodic, and you'll find yourself singing along in no time. "One Way Road" is well-produced, sounds clean and is ready for the mainstream. "When Lovers Attack" opens with some excellent drum and guitar work, maintained as a motif throughout, and is an upbeat track with a catchy chorus. "Something About Your Tears" is a love song with catchy lyrics and great vocal layering, featuring more nice guitar and drum work. Overall, "One Way Road" is an impressive solo debut from JD that, through poppy vocals and great alternative rock arrangements, could very well be his breakthrough. Fans of alternative rock and Fall Out Boy-esque vocal performances should pick this one up.

"Acoustic Lullabies to Soothe the Soul" is an exceptional acoustic, sleep-inducing soundtrack from UK company Lullaby Babies. The owner of Lullaby Babies and mastermind of the album, Richard Jenkinson, is responsible for all of the sounds on this album, and the product is extraordinary. Jenkinson took what he considered to be the world's finest lullabies and formulated them into modern acoustic songs with wind chimes, piano, and acoustic guitar that maintain their classic lullaby quality. The result is ten lullaby gems great for putting children to sleep and highly enjoyable for parents and children alike. Jenkinson's vocal performance is also excellent, warm, gentle, and lulling in and of itself. "Acoustic Lullabies to Soothe the Soul" is well-produced, and the acoustic instrumentation and vocal performances sound beautiful and pure. The album features American lullaby classics like "Rock-a-bye Baby," "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," and "Hush Little Baby (Mockingbird)." In addition, it also features acoustically reoriented classical tracks like "Ava Maria" and "Pachelbel's Canon in D," ancient world lullabies, and non-traditional-lullabies-turned-lullabies. "Scarborough Fair" is one of the latter case, as Jenkinson creates a beautiful and soothing rendition of the Simon & Garfunkel classic with great vocals and limited acoustic guitar instrumentation. "The Castle of Dromore (October Winds)" is a great modernization of the ancient Irish folk lullaby that features a great vocal performance. Overall, "Acoustic Lullabies to Soothe the Soul" is rather aptly titled, musically and vocally excellent, and great for the whole family. Parents having trouble getting their kids to bed at night are going to want to pick this one up.

Led by phenomenal singer/songwriter Roger Häggström, Roger and the Rockets have created a solid album that draws from the roots Americana, Irish folk, blues, and bluegrass genres. The arrangements are driven by toe-tapping drum beats, nice bass lines, soaring guitars, and great musical additions including violin, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, hand claps, and group vocals. Roger's delivery is with a unique country vocal, refreshing and a great match for the arrangements. The songs are fun and upbeat featuring imaginative and meaningful lyrics about trying to understand women, hope, lonesomeness, and politics. "Unknown Man" is well-produced and sounds nothing but clean and professional. "Out of This Place" has a nice arrangement with a great drum beat and exceptional mandolin and acoustic guitar work and a great group vocal on the catchy chorus. "I Got Hope" is a political track about "hope for a better world" with a great arrangement, thought-provoking lyrics, and more great group vocals. "What a Ride" is a bluesy track featuring harmonica, a classic blues arrangement, and more great lyrics. With "Unknown Man," singer/songwriter Roger Häggström and his backing band, the Rockets, have composed an excellent and original album sure to be met with worldwide acclaim. Fans of upbeat country-lenient alt-country should definitely give Roger and the Rockets a listen.

"Hey Revolution Now!" is an excellent alt-country/folk rock album from Norwegian outfit Home Groan. This is the tenth release from singer/songwriter Martin Hagfors' band, and the toe-tapping Americana and folk arrangements and eclectic lyrics highlight Home Groan's musical maturity. Though occasionally coupled with an excellent female vocalist, Hagfors is the lead vocalist and, true to the fusion of genres, sounds like a mixture of Tom Petty, The Weakerthans, and Wilco. The song titles infer a certain witty humor in the lyrics and do not disappoint. Showing his musical maturity, Hagfors is capable of juxtaposing the humorous with the serious, from biting heads off of microphones to falling off a cliff at Big Sur. "Hey Revolution Now!" is well-recorded with an overall sound great for the genres. "Jfk Loved Volvos Too" is a well-composed acoustic song about Hagfors' 1961 Volvo with a humorous chorus and great male/female duo vocals. "Bring You Back With a Song" is a sadder love song and a ballad of sorts with great hopeful lyrics. The title track, "Hey Revolution Now!" follows this up with a fun political track with the group chorus, "Hey revolution now/ Make peace with the holy cow." With "Hey Revolution Now!" Home Groan has crafted an excellent, musically mature album with intelligent, memorable lyrics and wonderful backing arrangements. Fans of alt-country and folk rock, pick up this album now!

Rock A Doodle Doo is Terry Webster, a premier pop impressionist from Britain, and though they are sung forty to fifty years later, each song maintains the timeless quality with which it was originally sung and highlight Webster's excellent vocal imitation skills. Webster digs deep into the '50s and '60s rock & roll archive and pays tribute to anthems popularized by the likes of Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Del Shannon, and The Ronnettes. The recording quality of "That'll Be The Day" is also quite good. It sounds clean while maintaining the timeless quality. This party mix features classic rock & roll staples, including "Stand By Me," "Wonderful World," "It's My Party," and "Teenager In Love". Along with classics that have been dazzling our ears for years, the collection also features many tracks that may be a first introduction to audiences born in the last thirty years. "Halfway to Paradise" is a great imitation of a Bill Fury classic that maintains its original dreamy quality and great vocals. "Walk Right Back" is a great song popularized by The Everly Brothers that features great guitar work and catchy lyrics. "That'll Be The Day" is a great tribute to a great era in music that brings twenty-seven classics together to both pay respect to and provide a new twist on a classic tracks. "Stay with me sweetheart, don't close your eyes" is an excellent and truly original Swedish Americana album from Jesper Eriksson & Wedell. A talented singer/songwriter, Eriksson places the most value in his lyrics, and delivers with attention getting, thought provoking, flowing lyrics about life and love, with a great storytelling quality to them. Eriksson's vocals are weathered and perfect for this genre. He draws from one of his main influences, Bob Dylan, and the end result is a vocal styling quite similar to Wilco's Jeff Tweedy. While the lyrics may be key, the arrangements are also solid, combining pop, rock, country, and folk to create that unique Swedish Americana sound, superbly complimenting Eriksson's great lyricism. "Stay with me sweetheart, don't close your eyes" is a low budget production, most of it recorded in Eriksson's home studio. After a year of Andreas Granath's careful mixing and producing, the album sounds great, with a slight raw quality great for the genre. "Hey Hey Hey" introduces the album nicely with an Americana track featuring great lyrics, a catchy chorus, and a solid backing arrangement. "Are We Waiting for You?" is a sweet piano ballad with pleasant dueling female and male vocals, some nice vocal layering, and more great lyrics. With "Stay with me sweetheart, don't close your eyes," Jesper Eriksson & Wedell have delivered nine solid and excellently crafted songs and proved that you don't have to spend a lot of money to make a great album. Fans of Americana, do yourself a favor and see how well these Scandinavians approach the genre.

"Organic" by B. Keyler (Rock Artist from Norway)

B. Keyler's latest album, titled "Organic," is a wonderful blend of moving adult contemporary ballads and avant-garde rock. Keyler's lush voice gets all kind of action with ranges from lounge jazz (like in "The Sweetest Kiss") to hard rock (such as "Seven Stars"). The ballad "When You're Gone" is a very sentimental piece and also features another classic vocal track from Keyler. For something a little different, check out the opening track titled "Freaky Moments," a song which will have you singing along during and after hearing it. The title track rocks the hardest and, like "Freaky Moments," will have you singing along. B. Keyler's "Organic" is a great listen for anyone who enjoys listening to Liz Phair or adult pop/rock that strays just a bit from the norm.

"Fagan & Payne" is the self-titled debut featuring a well-crafted collection of songs that are classically upbeat with a touch of broodiness from UK artists Fagan & Payne. Kelly Fagan's voice wraps itself beautifully around Lucho Payne's wonderful and diverse acoustic guitar work. Their relationship leaves little need for trickery; rather, Fagan & Payne are all about great melodies, a naturally distinct sound, and great performances. Although they have their own styles, the two incorporate several genres into their act, including alternative and pop rock, lounge, and jazz, and they do it with ease. This album is well-recorded with an intimate quality that makes you feel as though you could hear a pin drop. Highlights include the opener, "The Story of Me and You," which sets the tone right off the bat, creating an immediate window into the concept, and includes some cool hand claps, a lovely guitar progression, and a crisp vocal. "Dear Dear Me" features a great lounge jazz progression and a warm vocal performance. "Started Thinking (Stuart Boldt Remix)" wraps up the album with a great layering of vocals, thumping beat, and a simple acoustic progression and extreme danceability. If you enjoy acoustic acts with a dark swagger and style, you will enjoy Fagan & Payne.

"Welcome to Murraysville" is a Brit punk album from Phil Murray and the Boys from Bury. Most of the album takes on the simplistic, classic punk rock sound with Ramones-style three chord progressions. However, it also incorporates the organ, hand claps and intense guitar solos that draw from pop rock, blues and rockabilly. Murray's vocals are very British and styled similarly to contemporary artist Art Brut, as well as likely influences The Ramones, The Clash, and The Smiths. PM&tBfB's lyrics are original, humorous and often about life (and "Rainy Nights") in Rotherham; their Northern England home town. "Welcome to Murraysville" is well-produced, intentionally giving the album that gritty punk rock sound of its predecessors. "Average Day" shows the band's musicianship as it opens with a great bass line that is soon after matched by the guitar. "High Visibility Packamac" is a humorous song about people who drive Jettas and play Yu-Gi-Oh. The catchy chorus says it all; "He wears a high visibility packamac/With security written on the back." "17 Stone," "I Can't Stop Eating Trees," and "Dying Turtle" are also rather hilarious, pouring memorable lyrics atop that classic punk rock sound. "Welcome to Murraysville" is a packed album that does not let up until we're all on our backs doing the "Dying Turtle." Fans of that classic Brit punk sound with a sense of humor should check out Phil Murray and the Boys from Bury.

The key characteristic of this album is the powerful vocal performance from Corfield. Her strong, British alto voice is similar to contemporary Brit pop female vocalists Amy Winehouse and Duffy. The Pocket Rocket Band backs Corfield's vocals nicely with solid work on the keyboard and guitars, producing a diverse musical styling. Combined, the group has created an album filled with great arrangements, from bitter pop songs to heartfelt piano ballads. The recording quality of this self-titled album is excellent, with polished beats ready to hit the clubs and quiet ballads with clean instrumentation and vocals at the forefront. "Still Waiting" opens with a great acoustic guitar solo over a nice piano progression that shortly thereafter introduces a beat that turns the song into a pop dance number. "End of the World" is a soulful piano ballad about feeling overwhelmed that has a great arrangement, including a string section. "Feel the Love" has a more poppy and upbeat feel that has a significantly sunnier disposition than the rest of the album. "Nikki Corfield and the Pocket Rocket Band" is an impressive self-titled album with an outstanding and big vocal from Nikki Corfield and talented backing arrangements from the Pocket Rocket Band. Fans of Brit pop and soothing female vocals should grab this album.

Vincent Lynch's "It's Probably Me" is an EP that features Vincent's excellent musical talents, across multiple genres, from blues to pop. There is quite a lot of variation present on this 4-track EP: It starts with a remake of "I Got the Music in Me" with a jazz-influenced piano progression dubbed with an electronica/dance sound. Next, the EP moves to a bluesy electric guitar riff fused with a solid brass section on track 2. Then, Vincent presents a simple, clean acoustic sound on track 3. And finally the EP closes out with a dance club remix version of "I Got the Music in Me." Lynch's vocals are quite similar to the blues-oriented vocals of Eric Clapton. The lyrics of the 2 original tracks are strong. The bluesy, heartbreaking "Story of the Blues" displays Lynch's lyrical prowess when he sings, "Everybody knows what the blues is all about." More aesthetically pleasing is the simple, acoustic title track, which shows Lynch at his lyrical and musical best. "It's Probably Me" is a beautiful acoustic number with a tidal wave of mood setting sounds. No matter the sound, light and acoustic or loud and electronic, the EP displays Lynch's musical talents. If you have eclectic musical tastes and enjoy hearing a new talented artist, give this EP a try.

"Torments" is a haunting ambient album from Norwegian artist Immundus. Prepare yourself: one listen may force you to sleep with the lights on. Immundus creates an overall atmosphere of horror, suspense and distortion. Though the mood is dark, you'll hear some nice melodies and temporary hints of hope throughout. The arrangements are powerful enough to make you create your own horrific scene in your mind, like a horror movie without the movie. "Torments" is well-produced and allows the listener to hear those dark, disturbing ambient sounds as cleanly as possible. "I Walk Through the Shadows" opens thing up with creepy yet melodic bells and works its way into a disturb-o-rama of sounds. "To Where the Spirits Dwell" fills your ears with faint chants, creepy soundscapes, and a feeling that evil is approaching. "The Grieving Widow" wraps things up nicely with organic elements in the beginning and a nice progression in the end that speaks to the title. With "Torments," Immundus has created a must-have for those who enjoy horror soundtracks and dark ambient music.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Zhonray with a GrIndie Award for the CD"…Miles and Miles…"

"…Miles and Miles…" is an excellent easy listening album with elements of pop, country, and rock by Zhonray. Here, Zhonray brings an adult contemporary concept album and incorporates a wide range of instruments throughout to bring you an original and unique sound. The idea of freedom from the material world is ever present in the lyrics and the compositions are superb. The overall sound is very aurally pleasing, as Zhonray incorporates wind chimes, sitar, and slide guitar all into the same album and, in turn, achieves musical diversity. His vocals have a very distinct quality to them, but on a song like "Just a Chance," with the right accompaniment and inflection, the vocal performance is similar to Belle & Sebastian. The recording quality of "…Miles and Miles…" is good and ready to hit the radio airwaves – in fact, the track "Mile and Mile3" was recorded for that very purpose. "Summer Rain" has a world pop feel with the incorporation of the sitar, effective lyrics, and a nice arrangement. "In Nobody's Way" is a heartbreakingly poetic and lyrically slow rock song about letting someone go. With "…Miles and Miles…," Zhonray has created an idealistic album filled with diverse adult contemporary arrangements and strong lyrics. Fans of consequential easy listening will drift away for "…Miles and Miles…" with this impressive CD by Zhonray.

"Eclectic Guitar" is a versatile alternative rock album from Norwegian band The 99th Floor. The 99th Floor seems to span the '90s alternative sound with this album, but their inventiveness, group vocals, and catchy choruses make the album fresh and enjoyable. The 99th Floor take from many of the '90s genres – punk, pop, and contemporary alternative – and combine it with a variety of musical influences, including The Kinks, Violent Femmes, and Hüsker Dü to create a sound all their own. "Eclectic Guitar" is well-recorded, from incredible bass lines to quiet xylophones to dual vocals, and leaves little to be desired. "Headspin" is a quicker, punk-influenced song with an impressive bass line and a pleasant group vocal on the chorus. "Big Boys" has a strong '90s alternative sound. "Graceful Fall From Grace" closes things out with a slower alt-country sound, more group vocals, and nice use of harmonica and country guitar rhythms. With "Eclectic Guitar," The 99th Floor draws from a variety of influences and shows their versatility in incorporating them into each track. "Edge of the World" by Jay Stapley is an intelligent guitar driven, adult rock album brought to you by a talented veteran musician. Jay's style can best be described as Clapton meets Pink Floyd. His musicianship is superior and his lyrics are very true to life. The arrangements are full, well layered and the songs are radio-ready as far as quality is concerned. Bottom line is that there is a lot of talent present on this album and it translates into memorable songs. It's also nice to hear a "classic" sound perfected in the digital age. Highlights include the title track "Edge of the World," which opens the album and draws you right in with a haunting guitar riff and intimate lyrics. "I am a Child Again" features some cool guitar harmonics and delays along with poetic lyrics. "Deep Blue Sea" certainly has an oceanic feel to it and features some nice piano work. There is a great deal of passion in the performances on the CD, with driving verses and powerful, well harmonized choruses. The musicianship is superior and is certainly what you would expect from an industry professional. The production quality is very good and the arrangements stay true to the sound while having a pop sensibility. Highlights include " I Believe," which features meaningful lyrics and a fluid, rocking chorus. "Sad But True" features a beautiful melody and memorable chorus. "Tales of Pariah" is an outstanding hip-hop electronica album brought to you by Norwegian artist Delario. The range of subject matter on this album is wide, as Delario raps about everything from the quirky and humorous to the dark and mysterious. The arrangements are innovative and creative harnessing a very modern sound with a few classic tricks mixed in. The beat throughout the CD will have your body moving. As an Emcee, Delario hits it. His delivery flows and his voice is commanding. The songs are all well produced and ready to hit the club. Highlights include "My Shrine" with its nice layering of a solid vocal performance and rolling, thumping beat. "Devil's Blessings" brings intensity and a serious subject matter to the table. There is some nice ambience in this one too. "Friday Night" funks it up with a killer bass line and fun lyrics. "Sometime" by Matthew Hill is a memorable alternative rock album with an urban undertone. There is a noticeable punk-pop influence in the sound. Moreover, the songs are very catchy, flaunt an appealing rebellious intensity, and are generally positive. Matthew's voice is very distinct and has a passionate tremble to it, which nicely compliments his soulful lyrics. Musically, this CD also stands out with arrangements that are quirky and air-tight. The opener, "Love on My Side," has a great hook, unique vocal delivery, and is just plain catchy. "Dear Me" starts off vengefully, with a hot guitar riff and punchy vocals. There are some nice vocal harmonies in the chorus as well. The title-track settles things down a bit with a few chords on the guitar, a simple beat, and a heart-felt vocal performance. "Stories from Cactus Motel" by the humorously named The Men They Couldn't Shave is a pleasant collection of well-crafted acoustic/country tunes. Majestic acoustic guitars serve as this CD's strongest captivator and draw listeners in with a tight grasp. "Up North" stands out for just this reason; its graceful acoustic intro quickly becomes etched into one's memory. Moreover, the vocals on this album are refreshingly unique, adequately raw, and compellingly emotional. Lyrically, The Men They Couldn't Shave brings a nice mix to the table – a little bit of wit, a lot of relevance, and a nice dose of introspection. Other standout tracks include "The Ballad of Old Henri P.," "Ghost Dance Shirt," and the hilarious "A Tough Man Left Town." All in all, "Stories from Cactus Motel" is fun, highly relatable, and musically outstanding.
